You can now have writing tutorials online.

Did you know that the GSWC offers synchronous online consultations?

Whether you are a distance student, sick at home, or can’t find your keys, the GSWC is here for you! Online consultations are still 50 minutes long and are conducted with a live video feed. You can see, talk to, hear, and write chat messages with your GSWC tutor.

Check out this wonderful article from Texas Tech University eLearning by Joshua Blount to learn more about online consultations: Synchronous Online Consultations Article.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Graduate Student Writing Center blog! In this inaugural post, we will outline who our writing tutors are, what services we offer in the GSWC, and how you can book appointments.

WHO: Our experienced writing tutors are Texas Tech graduate students and instructors from a variety of disciplines. While most of our tutors specialize in English, all of us have experience providing feedback on writing outside of our individual fields. Our tutors all have different styles, and we encourage you to find the tutor that works best with you.

WHAT: The GSWC is here to help you develop your writing and research skills. During a typical 50-minute writing consultation, tutors work collaboratively with clients in a one-to-one setting. We offer tutoring for any writing project in any discipline, such as theses, dissertations, research articles, and class assignments, among other other academic and professional documents. We encourage you to actively participate during consultations because, ultimately, you are the authority on your own work.

In addition to writing consultations, the GSWC offers workshops, writing groups, thesis and dissertation boot camps, and other services. More information is available on our website.

WHERE: We are located in the Graduate Center. You can book appointments in person, online, or by phone at 806.742.2476, ext. 1.

We look forward to working with you this semester!
